Our vision<\/h2>\n

A world where smallholder farmers are empowered to manage evolving plant health threats, increase their incomes, improve food security and safety, and reduce biodiversity loss.<\/p>\n\t

The challenge<\/h2>\n

Without smarter tools and processes for surveillance and mitigation, pest and invasive species outbreaks<\/strong> continue to threaten food security.<\/p>
\n

There is poor awareness on the hazards of excessive pesticide use<\/strong> among farmers, agricultural service providers. There is also not enough access to effective and affordable lower-risk alternatives to hazardous pesticides<\/strong>.<\/p>
\n

There are not enough public extension workers to reach smallholder farmers with the crop advice they need, when they need it<\/strong>. In addition, many agro-input dealers lack the capacity to provide accurate diagnoses and sound crop health advice. <\/p>\n\t

How we will do it<\/h2>\n

PlantwisePlus is tackling these challenges head-on by following three key impact pathways<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\t

\n\t\tWhere we work\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

PlantwisePlus aims to reach 75 million smallholder farmers in 27 countries, providing them with access to the knowledge and skills they need to improve their production practices.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Bangladesh<\/a>\n

PlantwisePlus is working to empower farmers to use more sustainable crop management processes, including the use of a new biocontrol agent to fight fall armyworm. <\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Burundi<\/a>\n

In Burundi, our initiatives focus on integrating plant clinic networks into the national plant health system and promoting gender-inclusive services.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"Woman<\/a>\n Ghana<\/a>\n

PlantwisePlus activities in Ghana are working to improve extension services for the country’s female farmers.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"Plantwise<\/a>\n India<\/a>\n

Through our work with local and national partners in India, PlantwisePlus supports farmers in protecting crops, increasing yields, and improving livelihoods.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Kenya<\/a>\n

Key projects in Kenya include the successful release of a biocontrol agent to mitigate the impact of papaya mealybug.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"Tomato<\/a>\n Nepal<\/a>\n

In Nepal, PlantwisePlus and partners are working to improve access to agricultural advice, helping farmers manage pests and diseases that threaten crops.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Pakistan<\/a>\n

Key PlantwisePlus projects in Pakistan include the release of a biocontrol agent to safeguard crops from invasive parthenium weed.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Uganda<\/a>\n

In Uganda, PlantwisePlus is working with partners to provide training to young people and agro-dealers.<\/p>\n\t\n\t\"\"<\/a>\n Zambia<\/a>\n
